Save the Children’s held their first awards ceremony for corporate partners on Thursday 22 September and the Vitol Charitable Foundation was given the prestigious award of ‘Outstanding Emergency Response Partner’.
The Vitol Foundation could not have won this fantastic award without the generosity of Vitol staff around the world in contributing in times of emergency. This year they have given to Save the Children emergency appeals for Japan, North Africa and the Horn of Africa.
Douglas Rouse, Corporate Partnerships Director at Save the Children spoke warmly about Vitol’s support during the awards ceremony:
‘Our partnership with the Vitol Charitable Foundation began when the Foundation provided vital emergency funds to help stop children starving during the food crisis in Niger in 2005. Since then the Foundation’s support has been critical to our global emergency responses, year on year they have provided us with consistent support to our emergency appeals. The Vitol Charitable Foundation is extremely proactive and their immediate support enables Save the Children to respond as soon as an emergency strikes – this instant response can mean the difference between life and death for children on the ground. With their support we have saved the lives of thousands of children around the world.’
The Vitol Foundation works with 200 charities, helping to fund a wide range of development programmes across the world. Within this portfolio of charities, Save the Children is a key partner, particularly in any humanitarian crisis, due to their ability to bring emergency relief to the scene of the disaster extremely quickly.
